Sam es uno de los dos borrachos usualmente vistos en la taberna de Moe, junto a Larry.

Sam es un cliente regular en la taberna, aunque no cumple ningún papel importante en la serie.

Su primera aparición fue en el episodio "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire"^[1]. Nada se sabe de este personaje. Sam siempre viste una gorra y anteojos y pareció recibir un disparo por Moe, aunque apareció desde entonces. Homer dice buenas cosas de él.

En el episodio "Worst Episode Ever" ^[2] pareció haber sido disparado por Moe. Muy rara vez se lo ve hablando, solo en los episodios "When Flanders Failed" ^[3] (mientras estaba teniendo sexo en el centro comercial) y en "Lisa the Greek" ^[4] (donde cree que Homer literalmente apuesta su hija en un partido de football. En "Homer Vs. Lisa and the 8th Commandment" ^[5], es visto brevemente sin su gorra. En "Bart's Dog Gets an F" ^[6], es visto con su perro.
